New Methods in Teaching Math--Teachers Teaching the Kids How to Teach
The Khan Academy, an on-line math teaching library of tools has become the lighthouse, a guiding light source, for methods on how we can improve our teaching methods. An article in the Bloomberg Businessweek on-line newsletter shines the light on some of the concepts for the emerging Creative Molecular Economy.

After School Program Looking for Community Support with Open House
Take a break Saturday (05/21/11) and head downtown and visit The Zone (2-4 PM), an after school character development program.
Norfolk Daily News provided an in depth article about what program supporters are looking to do with this character development program to satisfy the needs of youth in an after school environment.
Study for money is one of their concepts that worked well in the past. How can we expand on this? Increase the reward? I'm interested in learning from others how we can make this even more attractive with positive results.
How about a challenge, I'll match the first $100 toward a goal of $200, that is 400 1/2 hour study periods given the current program.

Youth Entrepreneur Camp Opportunity--Calling High School Students
Please help identify high-quality, entrepreneurially-minded high school students to participate in a Revised Big Red Entrepreneurship Camp.
The Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program is revising the Big Red Entrepreneurship Camp into a shorter and leaner camp. The camp will start on Sunday, June 12 and conclude on Wednesday, June 15. Over 3 days high school students will fine tune their entrepreneurial skills while having fun expressing their creative and innovative minds through small group activities and lessons.
In the evenings, the Eship students will participate in activities with students from other Big Red Camps. The cost to students is only $75, with the remainder of the camp expenses underwritten by the UNL Engler Program, including lodging and meals. Barnstormers of Nebraska Airport Restaurant & Lounge - New Business Model
A shareholder meeting was held 05/08/11 at a new restaurant and entertainment venue at a historic Northeast Nebraska air passenger terminal, Karl Stephen Memorial Airport.

The historic air terminal was destined to be demolished by the City of Norfolk, after several years without commercial airport service and no other tenants considering the property for business purposes.
Dave Fauss and Karl Reeder came up with a concept to lease the property from the City for 10 years without monthly lease payments in exchange for comparable upgrades to the facility to support a restaurant and lounge operation. To help fund the facility upgrades the pair with others developed a shared community investment concept to raise monies in exchanges for shares in the business venture with anticipated benefits in the form of future dividends, discounts, and free access to party rooms.
These two with spouses and several other business leaders and many volunteers have brought the concept to an operational state.
Here's an excellent example of rural entrepreneurship and revitalization. They now have over 100 shareholders which represent over $250,000 in cash and in kind services/products.
